NCCR Automation’s DSO Outreach
The National Center of Competence in Research "Automation", a large-scale funding scheme by the Swiss National Science Foundation hosted at ETH Zurich, needed an efficient way to establish relationships with over 600 Distribution System Operators (DSOs) across Switzerland. Benjamin Sawicki lead this effort as Coordinator for Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT).
When I started at ETH Zurich, I knew I would have to build a personal relationship with decision makers in DSOs if we want to create new and foster existing industry-academia collaborations.
But to manage multiple hundred contacts is difficult, in particular if there is no relationship management system accessible.
Pegon advised on the Odoo deployment that streamlined the entire outreach process—from contact management to automated email campaigns. By leveraging Odoo’s CRM tools, Benjamin could build an automatic process specific to its KTT (knowledge and technology transfer) objectives.
The result was a seamless campaign that saved Benjamin significant time and administrative effort, while providing clear analytics on engagement. Armed with real-time metrics, Benjamin could gauge interest, prioritize follow-up, and lay the groundwork for future collaboration projects. NCCR Automation successfully expanded its network of DSOs, setting the stage for meaningful partnerships and innovative research ventures.
Through the contacts app the organisational structure, the relationship between contacts, departments, organizations, companies can be dynamically extended. This creates a valuable network of contacts. The contact network is now accessible for over 100 researchers involved in the NCCR Automation.
